Hi all!
Here’s a legend about Saint Valentine which I especially like….well, not so much the gruesome part, that’s more Goddess Marquesa’s style. 🙂
During the reign of Roman Emperor Claudius II, because of an imperial decree it was forbidden for Christians to marry. Despite this, a priest named Valentine kept performing marriage ceremonies. When Emperor Claudius II learned what Valentine was doing, he had him arrested, imprisoned, tortured, and finally martyred. Despite everything Claudius II did to him, Valentine never recanted any of his actions for which he was persecuted and murdered.
Valentine’s dedication to love and doing the right thing are among the reasons he is called Saint Valentine.
St. Valentine is definitely my kind of saint!
