I firmly believe that each person has their very own private language which uniquely communicates concepts,
facts, desires, emotions, especially effectively to that specific individual.
In “The Big Bang Theory” episode, “The Peanut Reaction” Penny tries in vain to persuade Sheldon to buy his best
friend Leonard a birthday present.
After she is unsuccessful, Howard tells Penny to tell Sheldon that gift giving is “A NONOPTIONAL SOCIAL CONVENTION”. After she does so, Sheldon instantly agrees to do what Penny wants.
After King David adulterously impregnates Bath-sheba, Israel’s most memorable king has her husband Uriah
murdered by deceitfully sending him on a wartime suicide mission.
To get David to realize the enormity of his heinous actions, the prophet Nathan tells the king about a rich man who callously takes a poor man’s only ewe lamb. After hearing of this wealthy man’s ruthlessness, the enraged King David declares that the pitiless man who did this should die.
After pronouncing sentence, the prophet tells David, “Thou art the man”.
These incidents reveal that there are for each of us some specific ways in which all sorts of things can
be powerfully communicated.
I like the term “Spellbinding Cipher” as a synonym for each of our private languages.
I’m gonna let you in on a couple of My opinions.
